Catalytic conversion of methanol/ethanol mixtures to isobutanol biofuel

We have reported catalysts based on ruthenium diphosphine complexes that convert methanol/ethanol mixtures to the advanced biofuel isobutanol, with extremely high selectivity (>99%) at good (>75%) conversion.  This builds on our previous work in converting ethanol to n-butanol – isobutanol has advantageous fuel properties compared to the linear isomer.
